International Relations Department

The International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University was established in 1992. The department was reorganized according to European standards between 1999-2001 within the framework of the Tempus Project. In 1999, under the "Tempus" program of the European Council, a project titled "Establishment of the International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University," prepared by the rector, academician Isa Habibbayli, was accepted in the inter-university competition of the European Commission.

 

As part of the project, representatives from European universities visited Nakhchivan State University, where they engaged in experience exchange programs. Similarly, the university’s leadership and staff learned from the work experiences of European universities. Additionally, the International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University was restructured and equipped with modern technology under the project. Since its inception, the university's international relations have been rapidly expanding. During this period, ties were established with numerous leading educational and scientific centers from various foreign countries, and collaborations were initiated.

 

The primary activities of the International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University (NDU) include developing the university's international cooperation, joining well-known inter-university networks and organizations, establishing new academic partnerships, and addressing the issues arising from NDU's internationalization policy. Special attention is also given to collaboration with diplomatic missions, international, and local organizations operating within the country. NDU's history of international cooperation is based on years of tradition and historical experience, making the development of international relations and the establishment of new partnerships a priority.

 

Today, NDU, which holds a unique position in the global scientific and educational space, implements joint projects with many well-known universities worldwide and actively develops its cooperation with partner universities. In line with NDU's internationalization policy, the International Relations Department focuses on further enhancing international cooperation in the main areas outlined by this policy. Currently, NDU has collaborative relationships in various fields with dozens of universities across several countries. These collaborations involve student and staff exchanges, the preparation of joint scientific projects, shared programs, courses, and curricula.

 

Nakhchivan State University maintains cooperation with universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Republic of Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, Hungary, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of South Korea, the People's Republic of China, Austria, and other countries.

The activities of the International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University include the following:

 

1. Organization of international and diplomatic meetings.

2. Implementation of student-teacher mobility within the framework of Erasmus, Erasmus+, Erasmus+ Mundus, and Mevlana programs.

3. Management of international projects.

4. Signing of cooperation agreements with leading universities around the world.
