About the faculty
In 1969, taking into account the demand in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Faculty of "Biogeography" was opened, including "Biology" and "Geography" specialties. In October 1972, the Faculty of Geography, later called the Faculty of Nature-Geography, Chemistry-Biology, on April 19, 1988, the Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry-Biology faculties were closed, and on their basis, Natural Science-Mathematics, on August 18, 1995, Agriculture and Natural Science under the faculties of Natural Science-Mathematics, Natural Science-Medicine on the basis of the Faculty of Natural Science in 1999, Faculty of Natural Science was established again in 2003, and the faculty continues to operate under the name of the Faculty of Natural Science and Agriculture since 2009 due to structural changes.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY
Ø In 1973, the department of Chemistry and Biology was established and the head of the department was Ph. Doctor in Chemistry Emil Rajabli. In 1976, prof. Y. Safarov was elected the head of the department.
Ø In 1979, the department of chemistry and biology was separated. From 1983 to 1989, the "Biology" department was headed by A. Gulamov. In 1991, the department was divided in order to open new specialties and determine the direction of scientific research work. A. Mehdiyev was elected to the "Zoology" department, T. Talibov to the "Botany" department.
Ø From 1996 to 2013, the Department of Zoology was headed by Associate Professor A. Akhundov, in 2013, for a short period (2 months), Professor S. Maharramov, since 2013, the Department was headed by Associate Professor H. Huseynov. From 1990 to 2003, the head of the "Botany" department, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Prof. Tariyel Talibov was. In 2003-2008, Associate Professor Akif Mardanli, Associate Professor Musa Piriyev, Associate Professor of Biology of Sciences in 2008-2018 headed the department. Since April 2018, Associate Professor Dashgin Ganbarov has been working as the head of the department.
Ø In 2020, the "Botany" and "Zoology" departments were merged and the "Biology" department was created.

Currently, 22 lecturers are working in the "Biology" department. 15 of the 22 scientific-pedagogical employees of the "Biology" department are full-time, and 7 are part-time lecturers. Among the employees of the department, 1 person is a professor, 10 are associate professors, 7 are senior lecturers, and 4 are lecturers.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
Ø Chemistry department was founded in 1977. In 1975-1976 the head of the department was Emil Rajabli, 1979-1984 years Doctor of the Chemistry Sciences, prof. Akbar Nasirov, 1984-1990 associate professor Gasim Huseynov, 1990-1999 associate professor Yasin Babayev, 1999-2019 prof. Tofig Aliyev, since October 2019, prof. Yasin Babayev is included in the department.
Ø Head of the department: From September 2021, the department of Chemistry is headed by Shamil Mahmud oglu Mahmudov.
Ø 15 teachers and 1 laboratory manager, 1 laboratory assistant, 2 preparators. Scientific-pedagogical staff in the "Chemistry" department are 7 full-time lecturers, 8 part-time lecturers. 2 professors, 9 associate professors, 3 senior lecturers and a lecturer.

DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE
Admission to the Veterinary specialty at Nakhchivan State University has been taking place since 2005. Until 2007, the specialty of Veterinary Medicine worked as part of the Department of Zoology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agriculture. On May 30, 2007, a separate Department of Veterinary Medicine was established. According to the extract from the protocol No. 02 of the meeting of the Scientific Council of the University dated October 29, 2014, by the order No. 377 of Nakhchivan State University dated October 31, 2014, the name of the "Veterinary" department under the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agriculture was changed to "Veterinary Medicine". In the classification of specialties (programs) approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 45 dated February 11, 2019, the code and name of the specialty was accepted as 050704 Veterinary medicine. Currently, the name of both the department and the specialty is called the Veterinary Medicine.
Head of the department was Mammadov Etibar Nasrulla oglu, Ph. Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, Associate Professor, in 2008-2012. Ph.Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, Associate Professor Rustamli Yunis Mammadali oglu headed the department until in 2012-2023, and Ph.Doctor in Biology, Associate Professor Mahir Musa oglu Maharramov is in charge from March 2023.
Currently, there are 7 lecterers, 1 laboratory manager 1 laboratory technician and 1 preparator in the "Veterinary Medicine" department. 5 of the 7 employees of the Veterinary Medicine" department, who perform scientific and pedagogical activities in the faculty are full-time, and 2 of them are part-time. 5 of them are associate professors and 2 are senior lecturers.

DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY
The Department of Biogeography was established in 1972. In 1972-1978, the Department of Biogeography was headed by Safarali Babayev, Associate Professor of Geography, in 1978-1990, Associate Professor of Biology, Abbas Mehdiyev headed Biology the department. In 1990-2003, Safarali Babayev, Doctor of Geography Sciences, Corresponding Member of ANSA, Associate Professor of Geography, then Associate Professor of Geography Nazim Bababeyli headed the Geography department. From August 2016-2023, the Geography department was led by Associate Professor Ali Hasanov. From July 7, 2023, the department is headed by Ph.Doctor in Pedagogy, Senior Teacher Elnara Seyidova.
Ø Department of Geography has 13 employees. 1 of them is an associate professor, 1 is a Ph.Doctor in Geography, 3 senior lecturers, 7 lecturers and 1 person works as a cabin manager.

In accordance with the profile of each specialty, appropriate laboratories, cabins, and museums operate in our faculty.
For the first admission in the 2021-2022 academic year, a Landscaping and Cadastre cabin meeting modern requirements, provided with the necessary equipment, textbooks, maps and drawings.
Also, in the 2021-2022 academic year, normal physiology and biochemistry laboratories were founded and started to operate. The clinic operating under the Department of Veterinary Medicine resumed its activity by providing it with the necessary equipment in accordance with the department's requiment. A pathology laboratory was established in this department.
