The Student Scientific Society at Nakhchivan State University was established in 1969, when this university was operating as the Nakhchivan branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute.  In those years, the number of members of the society, which included only 25 research students, increased year by year.  At present, young people who are interested in student creativity in the ranks of the University Student Scientific Society are taking their first steps in the field of scientific and research work.  Currently, the structure of the Student Scientific Society consists of 100 undergraduate and graduate students.

At the beginning of each academic year, all faculties, especially first-year students, are informed about the Student Scientific Society.  The chairpersons and members of the Student Scientific Society of the faculty are elected and the activity begins.  Various topics are selected and given to students.  It is preferred to give topics about the history, geography, nature, art, and prominent personalities of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.  Each student has a supervisor.  Until the end of the academic year, students work on their scientific work and conduct research.  Final conferences are held in the faculties near the end of the academic year.  More capable students are selected and admitted to the university tour.  Here, the most deserving students are awarded with diplomas and gifts.  The winners have the right to participate in student scientific conferences held by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  About 1,000 students are conducting scientific-research work on various topics according to their fields of specialization.
