ERASMUS+ KA1 EXCHANGE PROGRAM

 

The Erasmus+ KA1 Exchange Program is an educational initiative funded by the European Commission. Its purpose is to equip young people working and studying at higher education institutions with new skills, enhance their personal development, and increase their employment opportunities.

 

Students and staff awarded a scholarship package as part of this program are provided with living expenses, insurance, visas, and return tickets for the duration of their studies.

 

Requirements:

 

- A student can only participate in the Erasmus+ Exchange Program once per educational level.

- NDU students wishing to study for one or two semesters at a partner higher education institution in Europe under the Erasmus+ Exchange Program must meet the following requirements:

  - **GPA:** Minimum cumulative GPA of 80.

  - **Language Certificate:** English proficiency at B2/C1 level. Students without a language certificate will undergo a language proficiency test conducted by NDU’s Selection Committee.

  - **Eligibility:** Only first, second, and third-year undergraduate students at NDU can participate in the program.

**List of Participating Universities in the Exchange Program and Available Slots**

 

The list of participating universities and available slots for the exchange program may be increased each academic year or semester. Updated information will be regularly announced on the official NDU website and the International Relations Department's page.

 

MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM (MMP)

 

The Mevlana Exchange Program aims to facilitate student and academic staff exchanges between higher education institutions in Turkey and those abroad. The program, implemented by Turkey's Council of Higher Education (YÖK), was launched in 2011.

 

Students and faculty members from partner universities can mutually benefit from this program. Students can participate for a minimum of one semester and a maximum of two semesters, while academic staff can teach at Turkish higher education institutions for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 3 months, provided a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol has been signed. The language of instruction at the universities is either Turkish or English.

 

**Participation Requirements for the Mevlana Exchange Program:**

 

For Students:

 

- The student must be enrolled in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a bachelor's program at NDU.

- The student's cumulative GPA must be at least 2.5 out of 4.0.

 

Required Documents:

 

- Transcript

- Turkish (TYS - Türkçe Yeterlilik Sınavı) or English language certificate (minimum B1) corresponding to the language of instruction at the host university. Students without an English language certificate will take a language proficiency exam conducted by NDU's Selection Committee.

- Application Form (Aday Öğrenci Başvuru Formu)

- Student Information Form (Öğrenci Bilgi Formu)

- Copy of the foreign passport

- Two 3×4 photos

 

Students must submit the original and three copies of the required documents, along with electronic versions, to the program coordinator.

 

- Students selected for the exchange program receive a monthly scholarship of 1000 TL during their study period, funded by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). They receive 70% of the scholarship monthly, and the remaining amount is paid based on the student's academic performance, calculated as the ratio of successful courses to total courses taken.

- Students are required to pay the tuition fees to their home institution but are not required to pay any tuition fees to the host institution under the exchange program.

- Those interested in participating in the program can apply to the Mevlana Exchange Program Coordination Center at their respective higher education institutions.

- The courses taken by students studying abroad under the Mevlana Exchange Program are clearly indicated in the education protocol, ensuring that students do not lose any academic years upon returning home.

 

For Academic Staff:

 

- Academic staff at NDU teaching specialized courses are eligible to participate in the program.

- The academic activity of the instructors during the exchange period must total at least 6 hours.

- If the 6-hour weekly teaching requirement is not met, academic activities such as seminars, conferences, and discussions are also considered.

The goals and objectives of the internationalization activity are reflected in the university's internationalization policy and action plan. The university prioritizes the following in planning its internationalization roadmap.

The document was prepared taking into account opinions and proposals of the management staff of Nakhchivan State University, "State Program for increasing the international competitiveness of the higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan", "State Strategy for the development of education in the Republic of Azerbaijan", "Strategy of socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2026",  "State Program for the socio-economic development of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027" and based on the "Strategic Development Plan of Nakhchivan State University for 2023-2027". The Internationalization document of Nakhchivan State University includes the following strategic goals and objectives:

 

Goal 1. Internationalization of educational programs:

Target 1. Improvement of the curriculum and methods for the training of competitive personnel in the international labor market;

Target 2. Adaptation of educational programs to current requirements of national and international labor markets;

Target 3. Involvement of foreign professionals to the educational process;

Target 4. Improving the existing educational programs in English and organizing new educational programs that will enrich the university's academic offer for both local and foreign students/Increasing the number and quality of joint educational programs conducted in a foreign language;

Target 5. Digitization of the academic process/Support to the transformation of training and education through Digitization;

Target 6. Organization of professional development courses for professors and teachers, as well as courses on the development of foreign language skills without leaving the main workplace for the professional development of the staff;

Target 7. Application of modern teaching technologies;

Target 8. Preparation of educational programs based on the experience of foreign higher education institutions;

Target 9. Involvement of foreign professors and teachers in curriculum renewal;

Target 10. Increasing the number of internationally accredited specialty and subject programs;

 

Goal 2. Promotion of the international image of the University:

Target1. Membership in international level organizations;

Target2. To cooperate with international accreditation companies;

Target 3. Advancement in the training of international level experts and researchers, selection of prestigious foreign partner higher education institutions;

Target 4. Increasing the number of students participating in mobility within international programs, as well as the number of academic staff and academic mobility contracts;

Target 5. Increasing the effectiveness of cooperation with foreign partners by identifying specific areas;

Target 6. Implementation of projects in the direction of development of international academic mobility and capacity building:

Target 7. Organization of international experience programs and trainings for administrative and academic staff of the University;

Target 8. Organization of international double diploma programs jointly with prestigious foreign higher education institutions;

Target 9. Preparation of a mechanism for the future sustainability of dual diploma programs;

 

Goal 3. Internationalization of research:

Target 1. Promotion of publication of scientific researches and scientific articles in prestigious international scientific journals;

Target 2. Creation of scientific-research structures and preparation of scientific research programs, which envisage the joint participation of foreign professors and talented students in scientific research;

Target 3. Significant expansion and modernization of the university's scientific research facilities (laboratories), adaptation to world standards;

Target 4. To ensure the implementation of the necessary measures for the university to be included in the rankings of ARWU, QS, THE, Webometrics and other reputable rating companies and to be ranked higher;

Target5. Submitting projects to international grant programs, as well as ensuring the participation of the university as a partner in international grant projects;

 

Goal 4. Involvement of foreign students:

 

Target1. Increasing the number of foreign students studying in relation to the total number of students (including programs taught in a foreign language);

Target 2. To participate in international educational exhibitions for the purpose of attracting foreign students;

Target 3. Improving the quality of education for the foreign student contingent, including the preparatory program for the university (foundation program);

Target 4. Diversification of foreign student enrollment (increasing/diversifying the geographical coverage of the number of students admitted);

Target 5. Opening of NSU admission offices in the target countries in order to increase the geographical coverage of the attraction of foreign students;

 Target6. Formation of a multicultural and multilingual environment in the university

International projects

1. The Erasmus+LMQ Sante project is ongoing (2021-2024). The coordinator of the project is the University of Western Attica. Other universities participating in the project as partners: University of Nice, Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Al-Farabi University, Kazakh-Russian Medical University, Kazakh National Academy, Kokteshaunsky University.

2. The Erasmus+IQAinAR project is ongoing (2021-2025). The coordinator of the project is Wittenburg University of the Netherlands. Other universities participating in the project as partners: 456 International BV (NL), Fundacion Universitaria San Antonio (UCAM), Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan Technical University and the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

3. The Erasmus+ ENGAGE project has just started (2023-2026). The coordinator of the project is Mingachevir State University.

4. Erasmus+ DIRNA project has just started (2023-2026).

The coordinator of the project is Khazar University. Other universities participating in the project as partners: Izmir Institute of Technology, Laquila University, Jyväskylä University, Nakhchivan State University, Ganja State University, Lankaran State University, Mingachevir State University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku State University, State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

5. Erasmus+ FTLV Quality SANTE project has just started (2023-2026). In the next year, the processes related to the progress of the project will be started. The coordinator of the project is the University of Western Attica.

Exchange programs

ERASMUS+ KA1 EXCHANGE PROGRAM

ERASMUS+ KA1 EXCHANGE PROGRAM IS A STUDY PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION. THE PURPOSE OF THE ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE PROGRAM IS TO ACQUIRE NEW SKILLS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WORKING AND EDUCATING IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, STRENGTHENING THEIR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INCREASE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

 STUDENTS AND STAFF JOINING THE SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE ARE PROVIDED WITH LIVING, INSURANCE, VISA, DEPARTURE AND RETURN TICKETS DURING THEIR EDUCATION SPECIFIED IN THE PROJECT.

REQUIREMENTS:

· THE WINNER OF THE ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE PROGRAM CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM ONLY ONCE AT ONE EDUCATION LEVEL.

· UNDER THE ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE PROGRAM, NSU STUDENTS WISHING TO TAKE A SCHOLARSHIP FOR ONE OR TWO SEMESTER EDUCATION AT A PARTNER INSTITUTION OF EUROPEAN COUNTRIES MUST ANSWER THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PLACES OFFERED LEAD:

· GPA OF STUDENTS MUST BE ABOVE 80

· LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE (ENGLISH LANGUAGE B2/C1 LEVEL)/ FOR STUDENTS WITHOUT LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE, LANGUAGE LEVEL EXAMINATION IS CONDUCTED BY NDU ELECTION COMMITTEE DEPARTMENT.

· ONLY I, II AND III YEAR BACHELOR STUDENTS OF NSU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM.

MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM (MEP)

- IT IS AIMED TO IMPLEMENT STUDENT AND TEACHER EXCHANGE BETWEEN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN TURKEY AND HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS ABROAD. THE TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED BY THE TURKEY COUNCIL OF HIGHER EDUCATION – CHE (YÖK) HAS BEEN STARTED SINCE 2011.

STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM PARTNER UNIVERSITIES CAN USE THIS PROGRAM MUTUALLY. STUDENTS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE AND A MAXIMUM OF TWO SEMESTER OF EDUCATION , AND TEACHERS FOR A MINIMUM OF 2 WEEKS AND A MAXIMUM OF 3 MONTHS IN THE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN TURKEY (DOUBLE COURSE IF THE EXCHANGE PROTOCOL IS SIGNED)  CAN USE THE PROGRAM BY CONDUCTING LESSON. TEACHING IN UNIVERSITIES IS CONDUCTED IN TURKISH OR ENGLISH LANGUAGES.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM:

STUDENTS:

· THE STUDENT MUST BE A BACHELOR OF I, II AND III YEARS OF NSU;

· UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ TOTAL ACADEMIC GPA SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 2.5 OUT OF 4;

· THE STUDENTS WINNING THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE EXCHANGE ARE GIVEN A MONTHLY SCHOLARSHIP OF 1000 TL BY THE COUNCIL OF HIGHER EDUCATION (YOK). STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE 70% OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PER MONTH, AND THE REMAINING PART IS PAID BASED ON THE SUCCESS OF THE LESSONS TAKEN, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE RATIO OF THE POINTS OF THE SUCCESSFUL LESSONS TO THE TOTAL LESSONS TAKEN.

· STUDENTS ONLY PAY THE TUITION FEES THEY OWE TO THEIR HOME SCHOOL INSTITUTIONS, NOT ANY TUITION FEES TO THE SCHOOL THEY WILL ATTEND THROUGH THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM.

THOSE WHO WISH TO USE THE PROGRAM CAN APPLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM COORDINATION CENTER OF THESE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS.

· WHEN THE STUDENT RETURNS TO THE HOME COUNTRY BECAUSE THE LESSONS TAKEN BY THE STUDENT EDUCATED ABROAD WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM ARE CLEARLY INDICATED IN THE EDUCATION PROTOCOL NOT EXPOSED TO LOSS OF YEARS.

TEACHERS:

· ACADEMIC STAFF WORKING IN NDU ON SPECIALIZED SUBJECTS CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM.

· THE ACADEMIC ACTIVITY OF TEACHERS DURING THE EXCHANGE PERIOD SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN 6 HOURS TOTAL.

· ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CONDUCTING SEMINARS, CONFERENCES AND DISCUSSIONS ARE ALSO CONSIDERED WHEN LESSON HOURS ARE NOT FILLED WITH 6 HOURS PER WEEK.

DOUBLE DIPLOMA PROGRAMS

Currently, it is the most widespread form of implementation of joint educational programs. With the introduction of the NSU international dual diploma program, the educational system is organized according to the programs of the world's leading higher education institutions, and the student has the opportunity to obtain the diploma of both universities.

Exchange

Students can study for 1 semester at our listed partner universities through the exchange program. An exchange student is exempt from paying tuition fees at the university he will be visiting, but continues to pay tuition fees if he is studying on a fee-based basis at his home university.

ERASMUS+ KA1 STUDENT AND STAFF EXCHANGE

Erasmus+ KA1 International Credit Exchange (ICM) supports the mobility of persons enrolled or working in a higher education institution (HEI) from the Program country to the Partner Country or vice versa

EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Being an exchange student at NSU provides a unique opportunity to gain different cultures, learning skills, scientific experiences and discover Azerbaijan. Incoming students can get the necessary information about exchange opportunities from their universities by approaching their international relations offices.

EXCHANGE STUDENTS

NSU students can apply as an "exchange student" through the program and benefit from Erasmus+ Exchange projects. Students spend a semester on exchange at one of our partner universities, which will help them to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes, increase their confidence and independence, and stimulate their interests and ideas. The costs for Erasmus+ and other exchange projects are paid by the programs according to the program rules and the amount of the payment differs for different countries and partner universities depending on the budget available for the mobility period.

EXCHANGE STAFF

Employees who come to NSU through exchange programs are given every opportunity to learn the best practices of highly qualified specialists and professors. Employees arriving under the exchange program can collaborate with NSU in areas such as publishing articles, conducting research, and implementing international projects.

EXCHANGE STAFF

By involving academic and administrative staff in exchange programs, NSU aims to establish and develop relationships with universities in different countries. In addition, these exchanges help professors and academic staff of NSU to increase their knowledge, establish contacts with professors of other universities, develop mutual projects, write joint scientific journals, and bring new learning and teaching techniques to NSU. As for the outgoing administrative staff, they can observe and learn new things from European universities that can be applied at NSU to improve the management and administration units of the university.
